Frequently Asked Questions
How can I purchase a seasonal beach pass?
 
Beach passes may be purchased online at https://sharonbeach.cityhallsystems.com. At this website you may purchase passes for Veterans’ Memorial Park Beach and Community Center Beach, either for your vehicle or for walk-in passes. You may pay for your daily passes either online or with the gate attendant with a Visa, Mastercard, Discover or American Express. Cash is not accepted.
Once I submit my application, when will my beach pass arrive?
 
Usually, passes will be mailed within a week of receipt of your application. Addresses will be verified. If there are any questions regarding your information, you will be contacted.
Who should I contact if I have a question or issue?
 
Please contact City Hall Systems at (508)381-5456 if you have any questions regarding ordering summer beach passes or if you require a replacement pass. Any questions regarding use of Sharon beaches should be directed to Sharon Recreation Department (781) 784-1530.
Can I use the beach if I do not have a pass?
 
Everyone who comes to the lake during summer hours must have either a walk-in or car pass unless there is a concert or special event. Daily passes may be purchased at the entrance of both Community Center Beach and Veterans’ Memorial Park Beach. Please see fee schedule above.
Holidays/Closures
 
Please check our website www.sharonrec.com or our Sharon Recreation Facebook page to learn about closures or limited parking access for special events including Road Races, Independence Day Celebration, High School Graduation, and the Triathlon. We will do our best to re-open parking lots and access to the beach and boat launch as soon as possible. During inclement weather, for your safety, regulations require us to enforce a 30 minute wait period after a storm ends before guests may re-enter the water. If the forecast is not favorable for the day, we reserve the right to close operations.
Are inflatables are allowed?
 
In the water, our lifeguards want to have the best visibility on everyone in the water, therefore, no floatation’s are allowed in the swim area off the town beaches. Children who need assistance in the water must wear Coast Guard approved I, II or III life vests. Lifeguard staff is available to help properly fit children in their life vests. Children may not use swim floaties on town beaches.
Is food and beverage available for purchase?
 
We do have a concession stand available operated by an independent third party vendor. The vendor does sell a variety of food and beverages. Please note this vendor accepts cash only. See attached rules for Town Beaches.
Do I need a Boat ramp Pass to use the Boat Ramp?
 
Yes, all boats that use the boat ramp are required to have a boat ramp pass. All motorized or trailered boats must be launched from Lake Massapoag town ramp at the corner of Beach and Pond Streets. Only those vehicles with a boat ramp pass will be allowed to park at the boat ramp parking lot. Non-motorized, non-trailered boats may be launched from the designated areas of the Beach Boat Launch Areas.
Can I launch a boat in Lake Massapoag without a Boat Ramp Pass?
 
Yes, any non-motorized, non-trailered boat can be launched in the lake from the designated Beach Boat Launch Areas. The boat must be transported to the beach by a car with a valid Car Beach Pass.
Is every boat launched into Lake Massapoag required to inspect for Invasive Species?
 
Yes, all boat owners launching boats into the lake are required to read and understand the DCR Massachusetts Lakes and Ponds Program Flyer concerning invasive species. Boat owners are required to properly inspect their vessel upon entrance to and exit from the lake. Failure to adhere to these regulations may result in the suspension or revocation of your ability to use your boat in Lake Massapoag.
Who can use Veteran's Memorial Park Beach?
 
Memorial Park Beach is limited to Town of Sharon residents and guests. Sharon residents who have purchased a car pass and a walk-in pass may enter the beach upon presentment of the purchased pass. Veteran's Memorial Park Beach is not open to nonresidents of Sharon. If you do not have your pass, you will not be allowed to enter the beach or parking lot area.
What Is a Veteran's Memorial Park Beach Car Pass?
 
The car pass will contain your permit number and the license plate number of your car that will be allowed to use the pass. Car passes are required for anyone wishing to park at the beach. Car passes are to be shown to the gate guard upon arrival and hung on the rear view mirror when parked.
What is a Veteran's Memorial Park Beach Walk-In Pass?
 
The walk-in pass is a key chain tag that is bar coded with a unique number for each one purchased. Walk-in passes are required for anyone over 7 years of age wishing to walk or bicycle into the beach. Walk-in passes are to be shown to the gate guard upon arrival.
Who can use Community Center Beach?
 
Community Center Beach is open to Sharon residents and nonresidents. Daily passes are available for sale at the entrance to the beach. Daily beach passes at Community Center Beach are $8 for individuals and $30 for a car pass. Nonresidents who have purchased a summer beach pass may enter the beach upon presentment of the purchased pass to the lifeguard. Residents with a Memorial Park Beach car or walk-in pass may enter the beach upon presentment of the purchased pass to the lifeguard.
What are the Sharon Rules for Town Beaches?
 
The Sharon Rules for Town Beaches include the following rules for Veteran's Memorial Park and Community Center Beaches:
  • CHILDREN UNDER 14 MUST BE SUPERVISED BY AN ADULT AT ALL TIMES.
  • ALL CHILDREN WHO ARE NOT TOILET-TRAINED MUST WEAR SWIM DIAPERS.
  • PROPER ATTIRE MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES.
  • SWIMMING IS ONLY PERMITTED IN DESIGNATED AREAS.
  • NON-SWIMMERS MUST REMAIN IN AREAS WHERE THEY CAN STAND AND BE ACCOMPANIED BY A SWIMMER.
  • THE USE OF TUBES, RAFTS, OR OTHER FLOATING SUPPORT DEVICES IS PROHIBITED. TYPE I, II, AND III COAST GUARD APPROVED PFDs ARE PERMITTED. PFDs MUST BE PROPERLY FITTED.
  • FOR THE ENJOYMENT OF EVERYONE, NO AMPLIFIED MUSIC IS ALLOWED.
  • THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE PROHIBITED:
  • BOOGIE BOARDS, SURFBOARDS, AND WIND SURFERS
  • MOTORIZED AND NON- MOTORIZED WATERCRAFTS IN THE SWIM AREA
  • BIKES OR MOTORIZED VEHICLES ON THE BEACH
  • LITTERING, SMOKING AND ALL ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES
  • LOITERING AND SMOKING IN THE RESTROOMS
  • GLASS CONTAINERS
  • USE OF SOAP OR DETERGENT IN LAKE
  • FOR YOUR SAFETY AND ENJOYMENT, GUESTS MUST FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED BY LIFEGUARDS AND SHARON RECREATION DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL.
  • PER BOARD OF HEALTH: NO FEEDING OF WATERFOWL, DUCKS, GEESE, ETC. NO SMOKING, FISHING, & ANIMALS ALLOWED

Who can use the Sharon Boat Ramp?
 
All motorized or trailered boats must be launched from Lake Massapoag town ramp at the corner of Beach and Pond Streets. The Sharon Boat Ramp is open to Sharon residents and nonresidents. Anyone wanting to launch a boat from the Sharon Boat Ramp must purchase a boat ramp pass. The boat ramp passes are issued in pairs, one sticker to be placed on the boat and one to be placed on the rear windshield of the towing vehicle. A 60-horsepower limitation for motorboats on Lake Massapoag is in effect. Only vehicles with a boat ramp pass visible on their rear windshield will be allowed to park in the boat ramp parking lot.
When is the Sharon Boat Ramp Open?
 
The Sharon Boat Ramp is open year round. Boat ramp passes are valid for the calendar year. A boat ramp pass is required to park at the boat ramp and to launch your boat from the boat ramp into Lake Massapoag. The boat ramp parking area is monitored by the Sharon Police Department.
What are the Sharon Boating Regulations?
 
The Sharon Boating Regulations include the following:
  • A boat ramp pass is required to use the Sharon boat ramp
  • A car beach pass is required to launch a boat from the town beaches
  • All boat owners are required to read and understand the DCR Massachusetts Lakes and Ponds Program Flyer
  • Boat owners are required to properly inspect their vessel upon entrance to and exit from Lake Massapoag
  • All motorboats must be 60 horsepower or less
  • Personal floatation devices are required to be worn
